Dr. Richard D. Lim is a Certified M6 Artificial Cervical Disc Surgeon who specializes in disorders of the cervical and lumbar spine, with particular focus on workers’ compensation patients, spine deformity cases, and cervical disc disease.

He graduated from the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University Medical School and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University in 1996. He then pursued fellowship training at the Spine Institute for Special Surgery in Louisville, Kentucky, training extensively in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of spinal disorders. Since 1997, Dr. Lim has devoted his private practice solely to orthopaedic surgery, with a focus on spinal conditions.

Dr. Lim has served on numerous hospital committees, including the Pain Management Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Surgical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, and Performance Improvement Committee, with a special interest in continuous quality improvement in spinal patient care. He developed and pioneered minimally invasive spine practices at his hospital and has presented on the topic at both the local and national level. He has extensive experience performing Independent Medical Evaluations and chart reviews, and serves as a spine consultant for the Greeley Corporation.

Dr. Lim is Co-Director of the Bone and Joint Institute, Co-Director of the Spine Program, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL. He holds academic appointments at Drexel University and Midwestern University, and is a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
