SoftWave Therapy

At Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants, we believe in utilizing the most advanced, science-backed treatments to get you back to moving comfortably. SoftWave Therapy harnesses patented acoustic shockwave technology to stimulate your body’s natural cellular healing response, reducing chronic pain and inflammation while accelerating tissue recovery.

Accelerate Your healing at the cellular level

When chronic joint pain, tendonitis, or lingering soft tissue injuries keep you from living fully, you do not always need invasive surgery or ongoing steroid injections to find relief.

SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Technology (TRT) is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that uses broad-focused acoustic shockwaves to reach damaged tissues deep beneath the skin. Unlike traditional treatments that only temporarily mask pain, SoftWave initiates a biological response at the cellular level. It signals the body to activate its own repair mechanisms, boosting blood flow and recruiting resident stem cells to heal the affected area.

WHAT WE TREAT

Targeted Care for Acute and Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain

SoftWave Therapy is effective for a broad range of orthopedic and sports-related injuries, particularly conditions where tissue healing has stalled or chronic inflammation persists:

FOR INJURED WORKERS
HOW IT WORKS

The Science Behind SoftWave TRT

Broad-Focused Acoustic Energy

SoftWave delivers gentle, unfocused acoustic pulses across a wide treatment zone rather than concentrating peak energy on a single narrow point. This makes sessions significantly more comfortable while penetrating deeper into tissue layers.

Cellular Shearing and Micro-Trauma

The high-energy acoustic waves exert a micro-mechanical force on cellular membranes. This harmless stimulus signals to your brain that a fresh injury has occurred, restarting the body’s natural inflammatory and regenerative cascade.

Improved Blood Flow and Biological Repair

Within minutes of application, the treatment promotes neovascularization (the creation of new blood vessels) to increase circulation, wash away oxidative stress, and decrease local inflammation.

Stem Cell Activation

Studies show that SoftWave acoustic pulses trigger the migration and activation of your body’s own resident stem cells to the targeted area over the following weeks, promoting genuine tissue repair and long-term recovery.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We make receiving advanced regenerative care as convenient and straightforward as possible:

Quick, Office-Based Sessions: Each session typically takes only 10 to 15 minutes and is performed right in our office by trained medical professionals.

Diagnostic Mapping: During your first session, your specialist will move the SoftWave applicator over the treatment area. Healthy tissue experiences little to no sensation, while inflamed or injured tissue will produce a noticeable, brief sensation, allowing us to pinpoint the precise source of your pain.

Zero Downtime: There is no anesthesia required, no skin breakdown, and no recovery period. You can walk out of our office and immediately resume your normal daily routines.

Progressive Results: While many patients report decreased pain and improved mobility after just 1 or 2 sessions, a complete treatment course typically consists of 6 to 8 sessions to achieve optimal tissue regeneration and lasting relief.

WHY MOC

FAQ

Is SoftWave Therapy Painful?

Most patients describe the sensation as a deep tapping or mild ache when the probe passes over inflamed or injured tissue. Over healthy tissue, the treatment is virtually unfelt. Your provider can adjust the intensity level in real time to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the short procedure.

How does SoftWave differ from traditional shockwave or radial wave therapy?

Traditional radial wave devices emit energy that dissipates quickly at the skin surface and can be uncomfortable. SoftWave uses true electrohydraulic shockwaves with a wide focal zone that penetrates deep into damaged tissue layers without damaging surrounding structures.

Will my insurance cover SoftWave Therapy?

While SoftWave Therapy is FDA-cleared, it is currently categorized as a regenerative medicine procedure and is generally not covered by standard health insurance plans. Our patient coordinators will clearly explain all pricing and payment options prior to your treatment.
